As a data engineer intern, I worked on two projects. Firstly, along with one other intern, I transferred an old company database onto a new system, which streamlined the process of searching for and retrieving files containing financial data. I ensured that all files were categorized correctly, determined if they needed to be transferred, and sent them to the proper location in the new system. This resulted in increasing company productivity.

I also worked on a project which aimed to reverse-engineer a catastrophe (CAT) model by performing statistical analysis on a combination of financial and geo-spatial data. This analysis was focused on attempting to predict the financial loss distributions which a given dataset came from through the use of data fitting algorithms and kernel density estimations. I performed this analysis with Python, SQL, and R within Databricks Notebooks.
